For Uwe Schneider and his wife, their FAFREES F20 MATE II has become more than just a means of transportation. It has given them a comfortable and practical way to enjoy everyday rides, shopping trips, and sunny days together around their home in Wipfeld am Main.

Finding a New Way to Ride

At 67 years young, Uwe had already experienced several major back operations and a knee replacement. Riding a conventional bicycle was no longer an easy option for him, so he began looking for a more comfortable and practical alternative.

That was when he chose the F20 MATE II.

“Ich entschied mich für das Rad weil ich schwere Rücken ops hatte und auch ein neues Knie bekam ich konnte kein normales Fahrrad mehr fahren daher entschied ich mich für das Dreirad von Fafrees.”

“I chose the bike because I had undergone major back operations and also had a new knee. I could no longer ride a normal bicycle, so I decided to choose the Fafrees tricycle.”

For Uwe, the three-wheel design was an important part of the decision. The F20 MATE II combines a stable three-wheel platform with a low step-through frame, making it easier to get on and off and reducing the need to lift the leg high over the frame.

This practical design can be particularly helpful for riders who want a more accessible and comfortable riding experience.

A Few Days to Get Used to It

Like many three-wheelers, the F20 MATE II requires a short adjustment period.

Uwe initially felt a little skeptical, but after several days of getting used to the handling, his experience changed significantly.

“Ich war erst ein wenig skeptisch bin aber inzwischen doch zufrieden mit den Dreirad. Man braucht ein paar Tage Eingewöhnung habe jetzt funktioniert alles sehr gut.”

“At first, I was a little skeptical, but by now I am quite satisfied with the tricycle. You need a few days to get used to it, but now everything works very well.”

The F20 MATE II is equipped with a rear differential, which allows the two rear wheels to rotate at different speeds when cornering. This helps provide smoother and more natural turning, particularly during slower everyday rides.

For Uwe, the differential lock was one of the important reasons for choosing the tricycle, and he continues to appreciate it in everyday riding.

“Ein Entscheidungspunkt war die Differentialsperre die ich auch als sehr gut finde.”

“One of the deciding factors was the differential lock, which I also find very good.”

Comfortable for Everyday Rides

The F20 MATE II was designed with everyday comfort in mind.

Its suspension fork with 50 mm of travel, together with a suspension seatpost and padded seat with backrest, helps absorb bumps and vibrations on everyday roads.

The torque sensor also provides more natural pedal assistance by responding to the rider's pedaling force. Combined with a 48V 250W sustained motor, up to 750W peak power and 65 Nm of torque, the F20 MATE II is designed to provide smooth assistance for daily riding and inclines.

Uwe noticed this performance himself:

“The bicycle is not too heavy, it rides well, brakes well, and climbs hills excellently.”

With a maximum assisted speed of 25 km/h and five assistance levels, riders can adjust the level of support according to their route and riding conditions.

Practical for Shopping and Everyday Life

The F20 MATE II is not only designed for leisure rides. Its generous storage capacity also makes it practical for everyday errands.

The front basket can carry up to 15 kg, while the rear basket supports up to 40 kg. The maximum total load, including rider and baskets, is 180 kg.

This is especially useful for grocery shopping and carrying everyday items.

Uwe's wife also enjoys using the F20 MATE II:

The F20 MATE II is available with a 48V 21Ah or 25Ah removable lithium-ion battery.

Depending on the battery version and riding conditions, the bike can offer a claimed range of approximately 65–85 km with the 21Ah battery or 75–100 km with the 25Ah battery.

The removable battery also makes charging more convenient, particularly when the tricycle is parked somewhere without easy access to a charging point.

With its combination of range, comfortable seating, suspension, and practical storage, the F20 MATE II is designed to make longer everyday rides easier to enjoy.

Built for Confidence on the Road

Comfort is only part of the experience. The F20 MATE II also incorporates several features designed for everyday riding confidence.

It is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes, a parking brake, front and rear lights, turn signals, and rearview mirrors.

The large lighting system and signaling features help improve visibility, while the hydraulic brakes provide responsive braking when needed.

The F20 MATE II also uses 20 × 2.5-inch puncture-resistant tires, designed to provide stable contact with the road while helping reduce the risk of flats during everyday use.

The model is certified according to EN15194, CE, and E-Mark requirements, with an IPX5 water-resistance rating.
